This raffel thing is cool!...awesome! Finally, those dang points have some purpose instead of just bragging rights to other players. I have a couple suggestions though for staff to think about.
1. For the winning a month of premium...maybe make that like 5 winners or something like that as the more people that like the premium, the more will pay the donation to sign up for a subscription.
2. Might be just me, but what does Sugarbabies msn address have to do with a reward unless you actually know who this person is?
3. Possibly think about adding an ebay certificate like worth 20, the same as the amazon one.
4. Maybe up the cert for iTunes to 20 for like buying a full CD or something.
5. How about like a gb2 USB flash drive since a lot of us have/can download music or digital books from the internet?
Many of those are good suggestions. I can't respond from the standpoint of a CL anymore, but I have some ideas.
As far as Sugar Baby's MSN addy, I think that was done mostly out of humor, and possibly as a test raffle. She'd have to say for sure, but from what I can tell, that's my guess.
The flash drive would be more on the expensive side, I think. The money for these items, like the gift certificates, has to come from somewhere. If premium memberships go on the rise, my guess is you may see more raffles for things like certificates, and maybe for more money, too. But I'm imagining, and again, J or Chris would have to say, that the money for those kinds of prizes comes out of what the site brings in on premiums.
Why not put up a money pool? Then users can contribute if they want for a certain type of raffle, then only users who contributed to the kitty are eligible to win it.
Sites like this are on a limited budget, take a lot of hours of dev / maintinence, and it seems fair as a way to do it: that way, if you are really into this stuff, you put in $10 or whatever and then try and buy tickets with your points for a specific type of raffle like the flash drive.
Not sure I'd say it's fair for users who contribute money being the only ones eligible to win. Defeats the purpose. And, on second thought, they're kind of already doing that. Many of the raffles are only for premium members. Premiums are the ones who have helped put money into the site.
Yes, the premiums are the donators...haven't got my membership yet cause don't get paid till next week. And, that makes sense as they are the ones that donate; they should be the ones eligible for the higher prizes like the radio thing, certs for various websites, or a flash drive or whatever.
I still think the nonpremium one for the month of being premium should have more than just one winner...like 5 or something like that. This would give a couple more people the chance to see what its all about and usually the ones that get that chance will opt in to donate for a full membership so that would give this sight more donators.
Yes, 5 is a good number for that one and hopefully if its offered again, the CL will think about changing the winners allowed on that.
Yah, that msn one was probably a joke unless Sugarbaby approves, but personally, I wouldn't want my msn email raffeled off like that where anyone could win and contact me cause you never know what might happen with that.
I do like the flash drive idea, although we may have issues with shipping to places outside the US with such items. This is why things like gift cards and such are the better way to go, since they can be redeemed anywhere in the world. I think 5 is a bit high, but maybe a compromise to 3? That'd be a j/Chris consideration.
As far as SB's MSN addy, I can guarantee you that wouldn't have been done without her approval. My guess is that she is the one who put it up there herself. She definitely finds it amusing, from the conversations we've had about it.
Yah, 3 is a good number, probably better and more workable for the admin/CL to think about for that month of prem options.
She's perfectly safe. You just clean your profile and when she's tired of the winner after the 30 minutes she blocks him or her. Issue over. Now how about talking to some of the vendors of good for the blind for donations of gift cards?
Thanks for the ideas, and keep em coming.
There's only one premium raffle up at the moment but we'll likely do that as a regular raffle so there'll be more opportunities to win.
Shipping may not be as big of a deal, as we could just order the prize once it's won from somewhere in or near the winner's country.
Finally, if you run a business, offer a service, etc. and wish to donate a prize, send us a note. It's a win-win as you get free promotion and we get the prize to give away. I already know of at least one such prize coming soon. Stay tuned.
What about a free month of allinplay? Although I guess allinplay isn't as popular as it once was.
Nah, not when there are cheaper or even free alternatives. Allinplay is decent though, I still go on there from time to time.
Hmmmm. I still like AllInPlay. I'd buy tickets for that, if it were a raffle.
What about a gift certificate to like blind mice mart, or maxi-aids, or some big company like that...like 15 or 20 dollars of anything in their shop. Don't know how this might work, but the admin/CL would have to work it out with the companies and both would win cause the company would get business and zone gets people to buy tickets with points.
How about adding a feature for besides buying the zone membership...people can buy point packages like $5 for so many points and $10 for so many up to the $25 membership fee. This thing would be separate and not include the premium membership, but buying points only. That way the zone would gain more cash for the sight and people could gain points to use on the raffels if they wanted so it would all work out and this should be open to all members to purchase points, not just premiums.
I'd put in a cert for like one of the fast food places, like Burger King or MCdonalds or something and then people that know they have one in their area can make the choice to bid on that raffel or not...something like one of those is fairly easy to find...like $10 cert or something like that. Subway and Dairy Queen or a taco place or chicken place might be considered also.
A gift certificate for Blind Mice Mart or a similar place would definitely be useful, I like that idea.
The problem with that though is the fact that a lot of countries have their own blindness-products store & since we're all from different countries, that wouldn't be very easy I don't think. I like all of the ideas so far however & honestly can't think of any at the moment.
putting my msn address up for raffle was my idea. I thought that as well as having the more serious prizes up for grabs we could have a couple of just "fun" raffle prizes so suggested that as an idea. I'm not entirely sure what people think is going to happen to me by giving my msn address to someone - it's no different to putting your msn in your zone profile, after all - it's just an email address at the end of the day. Now were I raffling off my home address and phone number that might be a different issue entirely :-).
For premium members who have a lot of name changes listed in their profile, how about a chance in the raffle to delete one name change from the list. I know there is one I took on a dare and kept for a month, and people who read my profile are still asking me about it. I'd buy a lot of raffle tickets for a chance to get rid of that. LOL
What about a feature where someone could set up a raffel where they give out the prize and get the points. For example, I found this thing where if you use a certain coupon code, you could get the text to speech voice Cereproc Heather for free. I used it, but found the voice to have this accent that I didn't like. I still have the installer file, though, and could offer it as a prize for people to buy raffel tickets for. Then, I would get the points that people used to buy tickets for the raffel.
I like that idea. if you offer a prize and it is determined to be legitament, you should get the points that people bought those particular tickets with. although, I definitely think that you should have to prove the prize is legit first.
I could see this working. Send me an email if you have something to offer. Probably will only do a couple for now to see what happens. Also would also take off 10 percent of the points you'd receive.
Sounds fair to me. The voice was from a page for claro read or something like that. A text-to-speech program that sells voices from everywhere.
